PRC on 1 Year Suspension of US Board Exams for PTs

Most recently, the Philippines hit headline as the PT or Physical Therapy program of the country was slapped with a one year ban by the United States due to copyright infringement and cheating purportedly made by a local review center.

The Professional Regulations Commission or PRC has issued a statement regarding the ban and suspension particularly from the Professional Regulatory Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy (PT-OT) that the suspension is actually not a ban bur rather an action by the Federation of State Boards for Physical Therapy (FSBPT) to make sure that those questions that had been compromised will not be included anymore on the exams.

The local review center that has been alleged to have distributed the compromised questions from the FSBPT exams is the Saint Louis Review Center (SLRC) that are copyrighted by the said organization and government office.

Chairman Nicolas P. LapeƱa said,

“It is sad that despite all of our efforts and policy reforms to make our Filipino professionals globally competitive and internationally respected, there are some entities that are relentless in going beyond the legal means including this alleged cheating. Their wrongdoings are detrimental to the best interests of our Filipino professionals.”
